England Lions beat India A by five-wickets in the final of the one-day triangular series at New Road here on Thursday.

Yorkshire captain Andrew Gale made 90 to help the Lions, England's A side, chase down a 279 target with eight balls to spare in the finale of a tournament that also featured West Indies A.

Test opener and Lions captain Alastair Cook returned after missing the three previous matches with a back problem.

The Essex left-hander, looking to prove his fitness ahead of the first Test between England and Pakistan in three weeks' time, faced just three balls before falling lbw to 18-year-old Indian quick Jadie Unadkat.

Cook has only one four-day County Championship match -- against Yorkshire at Chelmsford -- before the first Test at Trent Bridge starts on July 29.
